Christmas Shopping Guide: For the Dog

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

I have literally so excited to write this post. For anyone who knows me they know that I am completely OBSESSED with my two dogs Bentley (the Beebs) & Stella Belle. And for me to be apart from them for the past 10 days has been killing me. It also doesn't help that CJ keeps sending me sad pictures of them with captions that say "I miss my mommy" or "Where did my mommy go?". Literally breaks my heart into two. But today I am driving back home to South Florida with my mom.

Christmas is very important to me. Even though I don't have any kids, I treat me dogs as kids and wrap presents and put them under the tree like for them. They usually get more than CJ gets. Sorry hunny. Anyway I put together a little gift guide for the four footed friend in your life. I know I will be getting some of these things!!

Christmas Shopping Guide: For Her (By Him)

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

So a couple months ago for our anniversary, CJ wrote a blog post on what to get her for your anniversary. It went over SO WELL that I asked him to write another post for Christmas! With some help from me (design wise) he actually picked out some amazing things! Enjoy!

Christmas is very big in my family. It's so big that we have two nights of dinners and family time. Between my mom's side of the family, my dad's side of the family and Ky's family, our holiday season is, to say the least, exhausting. But there is nothing like spending time with your family. I know Ky especially looks forward to New Year's Eve because it is usually just the two of us and we both truly treasure that time together.

Kylee (thankfully) is like every girl. She loves fashion, coffee, books and jewelry. There is a running joke that she always thinks she is getting a watch for Christmas. Because the first two Christmas's we where together I got her a watch. For the record, I don't recall what she is talking about. I also got her a pair of Ralph Lauren grey jeans that first christmas as well.

This will be our fourth christmas together. I know, its crazy to think that we have spent four christmas's together. And when it comes to gifts, Ky generally tells me exactly what she wants. Which makes my life easier. But for those guys out there who are not as lucky as I am, here is some help on what to get that special woman in your life.

CJ is literally so adorable I can't stand it. To those men out there who don't know what to get the her in your life, my advice to you is JUST ASK HER! Trust me she has ideas of what she wants and I promise she will tell you. If you have questions feel free to leave a comment  below for CJ or myself to answer it! Happy Tuesday!

Christmas Shopping Guide: For Him

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

Well since I have been MIA for a little while, a lot of life changes have happened (update soon I promise). I have been at my parents house in Georgia for about a week now just taking a break and breathing. But with that I have been constantly thinking about blogging and have revamped the blog with posts! I am so happy and excited!

With Christmas right around the corner I thought I would share my holiday gift guide for different aspects of my life, in hopes to help you out a little in your life. Today I am going to share the Holiday Gift Guide for the man in your life. CJ is extremely hard to shop for. Like so hard that it takes months of planning to get the perfect gift.

For those who don't know CJ and I personally, we have been together for almost 4 years. And he is extremely tall. Like a foot taller than I am. He is almost 6'5. He is a basketball player at heart. So this holiday gift guy is for all types of guys. Oh and side note: I know I added a candle in this BECAUSE every guy has a favorite candle. They wont admit it but they do! This is CJ favorite. Take a risk and get a candle!

Happy Thanksgiving

From my family to yours, CJ and I hope that you have a wonderful time with your family. Today is a time to be thankful for everything you have. I know over the last couple week our faith has been tested and yet I am still thankful for everything I have, especially the things I don't have.

This thanksgiving I am spending it with my parents in Georgia while CJ is at home in Florida with the two sleepy puppies above. I hope you have a great day with your family and that you are as thankful as I am for my life, my family, my blog and my followers.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Fall Sweaters Under $100.00

[ 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 ]

The fall weather has finally decided to descend on South Florida. Well at least in the morning. I am loving the low 60's here in the morning. And YES I THINK the 60's is FALL WEATHER. It's really rather sad. Anyway I found some great fall sweater all under $100.00. And to say that I am obsessed with all of them is an understatement.

A nice little trend this year is fun little sweaters with designs on them. I am obsessed with the sweater with the little penguins on them! It is too cute for me to handle. But there is also the classic turtle neck and crew neck. The statement sweater is very on trend this winter. H&M has tons of them.

What sweaters will you be sporting this fall?

Make-Up Diaries: BareMinerals BareSkin Follow Up

In July I wrote a review about bareMinerals Bareskin Pure Brightening Foundation. I had only been using it for about 2 weeks or so at the time and I really truly did love it then. I decided to write a follow up to this post and let you know if I am still using this product or not... Well I am not. I really like bareMinerals products. But after a couple issues, this product was SO not for me.

One issue I had with this product is that by the time mid-morning rolled around my forehead looked like the bottom of a frying pan after cooking greasy bacon. IT WAS SO OILY! For the life of me I couldn't figure it out. I started buying blotting paper for Sephora.  I finally deiced to go back to my old foundation and I never had the problem again.

The smell of the foundation was horrible. Now I don't expect foundations to smell like roses but when there is a gross smell coming from this product it makes me less likely to wear it. And the fact that you could only use their specialized brush to use this product was a major turn off for me from the start.

This product isn't for everyone and I am one of them. On a more positive note this product was very non clogging. I did not break out once when I was using this product and I used it for about two and a half months.  Which is very rare for me. But everyones skin is different. My skin my not be like yours. This was just what happened to me.

RANT: DWTS- Why is it that EVERY week Michael Waltrip is saved? I grew up a NASCAR girl with my Daddy. But REALLY!! UGH. Worst elimination ever.....

RAVE: DWTS- Whitney and Alfonso did my favorite dance of all time! Who doesn't love a little booty dance?  Oh and how Leah Remini beat Derek Hough for not know what its like to get 5 or 6's? Can someone scream #TRUTH? Best night ever.

RAVE: Grey's Anatomy- Obsessed with the fact that Mer and Callie got drunk off tequila. It made me miss Cristina and the best part? They made up a song about vaginas. A-mazing.

Dear Andrea Seabrook of Decode DC.....

I very rarely get my feathers ruffled when it comes to news reporters. I get that they are reporting on an assigned story. And as my Gigi Granny always said, there are two sides to every story, and I always agreed with that. But being in the public relations industry you tend to grow a thick skin and let things and comment roll off your back. You basically learn that no matter how hard you pitch a story and get those amazingly perfect quotes, in the end the reporter is going to write what they what to write. End of story.

If you know me or follow me on any of my social media sites (FB, Twitter, Instagram) you know that Bentley and Stella (our two yorkies) are our world. CJ and I don't have any children, so our dogs are our children. We would honestly go to any lengths to make sure that they are happy and in good health. And for some people, I get that a dog is a dog. But that's not the case for us.

I have been following the Ebola case of Nina Pham since the beginning. And it breaks my heart that this happened to such a young nurse. But I have faith that she will pull through and that we have the greatest doctors in the world working on her case. But along with Nina is the story of her very young Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bentley. And it honestly warms my heart that instead of killing her adorable dog they are monitoring it for Ebola symptoms. How great is that? I know that if I ever got Ebola I would want them to show my two babies the same mercy and monitoring them I am receiving.

Yesterday afternoon I read a HORRIBLE article by Andrea Seabrook of Decode DC entitled 'Outpouring of support should go to Ebola victims, not nurse's dog'. My mouth dropped. So here is my letter of response to Ms. Andrea Seabrook.

(WARNING: This is where my post may be a little rude and mean. Just giving ya'll a forewarning. So if you don't want to hear it then STOP reading now.)

Dear Ms. Seabrook,

I read your article yesterday entitled 'Outpouring of support should go to Ebola victims, not nurse's dog'  and I have a question for you... What crawled up your butt ass and made you a heartless woman?

I agree with you when you state that Americans are very giving of their resources. I firmly believe in the old saying 'Do unto others, as they have done for you'. But as Americans if we so choose to give our hard working dollars to a dog who may have Ebola, that is our AMERICAN RIGHT to do so. So back off.

If you have read the news lately, which obviously I don't think you have, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife donated 25 MILLION to fight Ebola. And I am sure that he isn't the only extremely wealthy person to give to Ebola.

You make it seem wrong to love our animals the way we do. If we so choose to treat our pets as members of our families and sometimes as our own children, so be it. IT IS OUR CHOICE! Not yours. And how dare you judge us otherwise.

You know as well as I that Ms. Nina Pham is not be ignored. And if you are a good reporter (which from what I can see you are not) and actually did a little digging (it's called research for the elder reporters...) you would find out that there is a GoFundMe page dedicated to her. SHOCKER.... All it took was a 30 second google search of "Fundraiser for Nina Pham"

In closing, I suggests you do a little soul searching and find something you can actually write truths about instead of big lies. Everyone will hit a mid-life crisis. Maybe this is yours. Being a bitter reporter will never make you famous.

Also it is very clear why you no longer work at NPR...

Sincerely yours,

Kylee A. Pitts

Best Damn Race Ambassador and DISCOUNT!

A little fun fact about me is that I run for fitness/fun. I have run tons of 5k's, 10k's, Half Marathons and one Full Marathon. I generally run 3-4 times a week. With super long mileage on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Running is my therapy and gives me endorphins. And people who are runners are less likely to kill their significant other and get the pizza man to help you bury the body. At least that's what I tell CJ on a daily basis.

CJ and I at a race in 2011
Anyway I was asked by BEST DAMN RACE to be an Ambassador! BDR is such a great racing company with races all over the state of Florida (family vaca anyone?). With races from Jacksonville all the way down to Cape Coral ranging from 5k to Marathon status.

If your a runner like me you will want to take part in this awesome race. But guess what? I HAVE A COUPON CODE! Use the code KYLEEP to get $5.00 off ANY race entry! Questions? Leave a comment in the comment section!

TV Round Up: Rants & Raves

WARNING: Spoilers Ahead. If you haven't watched the following: Dancing with the Stars (DWTS), Castle, Scandal or Grey's Anatomy. STOP reading now!

RANT: DWTS- I officially think Bollywood should be banned from DWTS. It is not dancing. It is basically jumping around and looking like and idiot. CUT IT OUT!!

RAVE: DWTS- I LOVE Mark Ballas. End of Story. #DrunkInLove

RANT: DWTS- Jessie J was a horrible judge and Julieanne was just in a pissed off mood tonight. PMS much?

RAVE: Castle- How adorable is it that Castle and Beckett haven't had sex since the "Almost/But Not" Wedding. And who doesn't love when Castle talks nerdy. Please talk nerdy to me baby!

RAVE: The Invisable Man (or person) is real. OMG

RAVE: Grey's Anatomy- Maggie and Derek hugging after she tells him she is his sister-in-law. Adorable. Even more adorable when Derek says that he loves sisters. Sigh.

RAVE: Grey's Anatomy- Richards heart to heart with Mer about how he remembers everything at the carousel. I seriously cried. The ugly girl cry.

RANT: Scandal- Little Presidents Daughter is a whore. Threesome with two guys? AND the Eiffel Tower... Nice touch Shonda. And I am amazed that Secret Service Agent has a name.... Tom? Come on Shonda we can do better than that.

RAVE: Scandal- THOSE EYES! When the President asks where Liv was for two months! My heart broke in two. And it only took 4 Episodes for them to FINALLY talk and makeup and get my hopes up and SHATTER them again.

RANT: Scandal- Millie lost her shit and grabbed Olivia's arm. DONZO.

RANT: Scandal- WTF PAPA POPE! AND SECRET AGENT TOM!! I officially hate my life. How could they frame Jake Ballard for Jerry's murder! I died a little inside.

Letter to my 18 year old self

Kylee early summer 2006. Age 18.

You've reached your late twenties and made it through college. You have a full time job and two yorkies to top it off. You still live in South Florida and the Mustang is long gone but not forgotten. And you finally found the man who makes your heart skip a beat. But along the way there are a few things you will learn along the way...

College out of state is amazing. You will love it and you will meet the best friends you've ever had (DK Fam for Life). Don't forget to get out of the house and have fun. Your a smart girl. Don't let that doe eyed boy at Carolina Cup break your heart. He wasn't worth it.

And you will get your heart broken A LOT. It's ok just get up and brush yourself off. No man is worth driving 10 hours over 3 states to find out he's unfaithful. The runny mascara, eyeliner and fresh make up will happen, but he is out there I promise. Just drink more wine and you'll do great.

Get out and see North Carolina. Star gazing on the blue ridge parkway will always be worth it. Even on those cold nights. Oh and snowboarding in a blizzard when you should be studying for finals will always be the best idea you ever had. Frozen hair and all.

Take care of the mustang. Because one day you wake up and she isn't sitting in your drive way. You will know the true feeling of losing your first love.

Four loko will NEVER be a good idea. Neither will a Gin Bucket on your 21st birthday. But Cook Out at 2 AM every Friday night will be fine.

Get to the gym. Strictly doing ballet and walking 10 miles to class up hill in the snow will never be considered a work out. And while your at it, eating Cup a Soup every night is not healthy. Make some real food.

Someone will give you your first job. It won't be great. And you will be way under qualified. But it is an experience and you learn to not wash your hair every single day. The light will shine again. And you will find your way.

You will eventually get along with your parents. And you will find your best friend and confidant in Kelcy. You guys will finally see eye to eye. But know that there will always be wine and laughs when you guys get together. Even if you are a thousand miles away. Oh and look forward to lip-syncing videos. Save them and plan to blackmail each other at your bachelorette parties.

When you bring your co-worker soup because he tore his ACL, take a chance and jump in. Don't wait for him to tell you to kiss him... Wait that's actually a good one. And that one kiss I promise will change your life.

Kylee, dance as much as you can and smile. Life is too short, and you have too much to live for. Oh and about those five blizzards that you endure at the end of 2010, your car will be snowed in for 3 months. Sorry.

Sleeping Sexy

[1/ 2 / 3 / 4]

I have always believed that you should feel beautiful ALWAYS. Even if you don't have make-up on or if you are sleeping. A couple of years ago I would just wear a t-shirt and shorts to sleep. I was single and could care less about how I felt while sleeping. When CJ and I go together, I decided to do what I called 'Sleeping Sexy'. It's a combo of wearing sexy pj's or sleep dress, wearing the proper face creams and wearing lotion on your hands, neck and body that makes you relax. So I thought I would share with you some of my favorites for Sleeping Sexy!

If your curious about my night time face routine, check out my post featuring all the night time face products I use. I literally cant live without these items! Enjoy!

High / Low Chiffon Chemise- Wearing a sexy night dress always will make me feel sexy. Even if I have the flu or something gross like a drippy nose. As soon as I put on the night dress I immediately feel like singing 'I feel pretty, Oh so pretty!'.

Eucalyptus Spearmint Aromatherapy Body Lotion - This lotion is so relaxing. I bought it a few weeks ago on a little shopping venture in Bath & Body Works. There is a whole line of Aromatherapy lotions, hand soaps, body soaps, bath bubbles etc. I am really excited to try other products from this line!

Short Pajamas- These are such a classic pajama style yet still very sexy and preppy. Who doesn't love just a classic comfy pajama set? This color is a very nice navy deep color. These are great for those cool winter nights when you can wear nearly nothing but still want to feel sexy

Satin Cami and Short Set- I love the feeling of satin on your skin. That feeling just makes you automatically feeling sexy and that you can literally do anything. CJ especially loves the feeling of satin and I generally get a back rub if I wear it!

Friday Five: Leather, Fall and Flannel

[1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5]

#TGIF I am so happy it is FRIDAY! it haws been such a crazy week. Trying to get my life and blog back on track after being sick. I am slowly but surly getting there. But now that it's Friday it is time for my Friday Five! This week it is all about that perfect fall look. I am obsessed with candles and flannels and deep colors. So much so that I drive CJ up a wall with all the scents and smells in the house. But I am not the only woman out there that has this problem. Enjoy!

Apple Spice Candle- Who doesn't LOVE the smell of Fall?  I got this candle at Yankee Candle and I immediately picked it up. I might be because there is an apple donut on the front of it. Amazing. CJ loves the smell of apple. So it is one of the few candles he loves. We actually had a nice chill morning last weekend and I woke up and light this candle and it was perfect.

Leather Pencil Skirt- Leather and flannel at my go to staples for fall. I have a couple different black leather skirts styles in my closet. One is a black little flare and the other is a black pencil. Pairing a black leather skirt with the classic red flannel shirt or scarf (like the one below) is perfect work or dinner attire.

Flannel Scarf- I am becoming addicted to flannel. I really feel like I need to go to Flannel AA. This scarf just seems so cozy and fun to me. Classic red flannel is always amazing. This is a must have if you live in cold weather.

Ballet Back Tee- This backless tee is so beautiful. I am partial to this gray color. But it comes in several other colors. It would go great with the leather skirt from above. Wrap a scarf around you and you are good to go. The swoop back adds a little sex appeal to it. Can't wait to get mine in the mail.

Ruby Earrings- With the holidays just around the corner these little ruby red earring studs are a must. Thank GOD Chloe & Isabel has them in like every color possible. I love that these will match my red flannel shirt or scarf.

TV Round Up: Rants & Raves.

WARNING: Spoilers Ahead. If you haven't watched the following: Dancing with the Stars (DWTS), Castle, Scandal or Grey's Anatomy. STOP reading now!

New fun little post that I will now be doing on Fridays including my Friday Five (which will be up later today) will be TV Round. I am an obsessive TV watcher. Mainly"my shows" are on Sundays, Mondays and #TGIT aka Shondaland Thursday aka I want Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) to lay on top of me.

RAVES: DWTS- Ummm my prayers where answered Monday night when Alfonso Ribeiro FINALLY did the Carlton Dance. And it was AMAZING. If you where anything of a 90's child like myself, then you know the nostalgia of this dance. Can we please get Will Smith back on there and do Jump On It? I need some Will the Thrill and Boogaloo Shrimp.

RANT: DWTS- Still on DWTS... Can I say how I thought the whole audience voting was dumb? 99% of us Americans are not professional dancers. We are opinionated and know what we like (also known as a popularity contest  in my book). Lets leave the scoring to the professionals/celebrities.

RANT: Castle- Can I say that I HATE Kate Beckett's new hair cut? OMG girl needs some volume bad. Also the fact that they are seemingly to take a month break from each other before they get married because things are not normal like they use to be? WTF!

RAVE: Scandal- Obsessed with Cyrus Beene is having his own gay version of Pretty Woman. Amazing.

RAVE: Scandal- Favorite line from Jake Ballard "Call me later if you want me to do that thing to you..." UMM YES PLEASE!

RANT: Grey's Anatomy- Meredith is being a bitch. Bottom line. Not her fault she has another secret sibling. So don't take it out on the new Cardio God.

RAVE: Grey's Anatomy- Ok so this is a sad rave. I nearly cried because of Dr. Owen's speech about his love for Cristina and how he misses her and how he light up his life. Oscar worthy speech? Umm Yes!

RAVE: Grey's Anatomy- Apparently according to Meredith, Alex has a big "member" and Jo is a very lucky girl. Amazing.

RANT: Scandal- Why on earth would Olivia bring Papa Pope coffee? And invite Jake to dinner? What the H is going on.

RAVE: Scandal- The hashtags. I feel out of my bed laughing so hard when Huck said #badbitchcontest

RANT: Scandal- Everyone needs to stop giving Millie she wants. Girlfriend needs her head checked out. It is horrible her son died. But she needs help.

Flannel Shirt Remix

I am currently IN LOVE (like so much it is embarrassing) with flannel button down shirts. They are my new go to staple for fall. Flannel shirts are so versatile you can wear them with almost anything. I love wearing them with my leather skirts to work or my leather legging for date night out. You can also wear flannel with jeans and a utility vest.

So with that said, I found some AMAZING Flannel shirts. I have been particle (shocker) to the Old Navy Flannel tops. Originally they only had the two colors a black/gray and a navy (not shown, but still amazing). NOW they have two more!!! So I will have to get those two eventually

I also have a pink flannel that I bought 5 years ago from Hollister Co. So as I was researching I found some Hollister Flannels that are for sure super cute. I forgot that I even had it in my closet!

Are Flannel Shirts a fall staple in your closet this year?

September Favorites

I swear I didn't die or fall off the face of the earth. CJ has been sick, I got sick and life has been absolutely 'cray, cray' as one of my co-workers teenage daughter says. Life has been changing faster than I can grasp. But as my grandma use to say, 'Life doesn't wait for you to get back on your feet.' And boy, is that EVER true. Once things get a little less insane I will share more. Until then here are my September Favorites.

1. ASOS Long Sleeve Top with Pocket. I am obsessed with this top. I am loving the boat neck collar that goes straight across. This is such a casual look. I am totally thinking I am going to pair this with a pair of grey jogging pants!

2. Rachel Roy eos Limited Holiday Lip Balm. HOLY CRAP. My favorite designer and my favorite go to lip balm!?! I literally think I died and went to fashion and cosmetic heaven!

3. Old Navy Long Sleeve Waffle Tee. Loved this when I saw it at Old Navy. Perfect tee for October and Breast Cancer Awareness.

4. Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment. Perfect styling cream for hair. I am currently loving the Living Proof hair care line!

5. Crest 3D White Luxe Whitestrips. I picked this up at WalMart the other week and man did it do a WORLD of difference in my color of my teeth. Now don't get me wrong. My teeth are far from yellow but they need a little brightening treatment every once in a whole!

Night Time Face Routine

I have skin issues. Only a select few people know the extent I have to go through to keep my skin clear. After years of doctors appointments and trying everything under the sun, I finally found a doctor that could diagnose my skin condition. I have a combination of psoriasis and cysts that form under my skin. It got so bad at the age of 24, I would only leave the house to go to work and come home.

So to all my girlfriends out there that have skin issues this post is for you. I am NOTORIOUS for reading the labels of things before I put them on my skin. Everything I own that goes on my face is oil-free and non comedogenic. It has made a WORLD of difference in my skin. And I know this will really help you. I hope you enjoy today's post and please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Step One: Cleansing your face.

I use SkinCeuticals LHA cleanser with my Clarisonic Mia 2 (with a acne head brush). I am usually in the shower when I do this. This is to get the general "crap" off my skin. I know with all the make-up and pollutants that come in the air, I can't get it all off. That's why I do step two and three!

Step Two and Three: Take it all off.

I use Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover to take the rest of my eye makeup off and then to make sure EVERY LAST DROP of makeup is really off my face I use Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water. I swear by the cleaning water. It is the most amazing makeup remover ever.

Step Four: Moisturize your face and eyes.

After I basically have stripped my face naked, I moisturize it with Dr. Jart + Ceramidin Liquid. Again total obsession and can't live without it. They only sell this stuff at Sephora. But the bottle lasts for very long time if you use it sparingly. I then follow it up with eye cream. I know I'm in my twenties but thirty years from now I know I will be thanking myself for it. I use BareMinerals Renew and Hydrate Eye Cream. I use this twice a day. Once in the morning and before I head off to bed!

Flu Shot Needed.

So I spent all weekend in bed battling a mild (THANK GOD) cold. It probably didn't help that I decided that I would run it out yesterday by running 8 miles. But with that said, no post today. Don't worry darlings I will be back up and running (literally and figuratively) tomorrow. You all are the best and thank you so much for understanding. xoxo

Wardrobe Wednesdays: 80's Rewind

[ Top / Jeans (similar here) / Bag (similar here) / Necklace (similar here) / Earrings / Sunglasses / Bracelet / Shoes ]

It's Wednesday! My favorite day of the week. I hope you all are having a great week! So I've been having a current obsession with button downs lately. But this outfit was a total 80's inspiration from my Mom. I remember that she had a love for oversized button down and tops and would always pair them with leggings or straight leg jeans. I always thought she looked like young Audrey Hepburn with her extremely thin frame and short brown colored hair. She always had this air of class about her. I think this is where my fashion obsessed self started. So I dedicate this post to my classical chic Momma. I'm stealing you look from the 80's! xoxo
