Happy Labor Day!

Labor Day is celebrated in the United Stated by family time and barbecues. We will be spending time with CJ's family because my family is spread from Philadelphia (siblings) and Georgia (parents). I thought it would be fun to share with you some fun facts about Labor day!
  • Oregon was the first state to recognize it as a holiday in 1887
  • In 1894 Congress passed an act observing the first Monday in September as a legal holiday
  • Wearing white or seersucker clothing was frowned upon if worn after labor day because it is "unofficial" mark to the end of summer.
  • The first U.S. Labor Day was celebrated in 1882, in NYC. It was planned by the Central Labor Union.
  • Originally Labor Day began as a significant demonstration demanding rights for workers.
Enjoy today with your family and friends! Also PLEASE be safe out there and don't do something silly!
